THE OPEN 2011

British Open Victory

In a win for the common man, the world watched Darren Clarke's 3 shot win at the Open Championship after 19 previous tries.

The list of winners from the tiny country of Northern Ireland , just added it's favorite son. He doesn't have the swing of Rory or the putting prowess of Graeme , but the list would not be complete without Darren Clarke. We are all familiar with the lost of his wife Heather to cancer in 2006 and his gutsy appearance at the Ryder Cup at the K Club three weeks later.

The dream of any professional golfer is to win a major and of course the dream of a Euro, is to win the Open Championship, the oldest Major.
This made the win even more significant as we watched Darren play two solid rounds on the weekend in not the best of weather conditions.

Darren Clarke didn't wake up on Monday morning after the night before to find he had not been dreaming. The champ never had a chance to dream as in his usual style he never shut his eyes at anytime during the long and happy celebrations.
